Prior to starting his own design studio, Joe spent over 3 years in the landscape architecture division at R.S. Granoff Architects, P.C., a leading architectural firm in Greenwich, CT. He collaborated with teams of clients, architects and landscape architects and gained an appreciation for the parallels that exist between the three. With detailed and complex projects, communication among the team was critical to correctly fuse and solidify a design vision. Working at Granoff established Joe’s strong foundation of communication, design skills and key relationships with local contractors, all of which are of paramount importance for any design project. Specifically, Joe produced and maintained design development master plans through the evolution of an idea based on clientele needs, regulatory councils and restrictions and environmental sensitivities. He managed major residential site development projects ranging from $500,000 to $2.0M construction costs with a role of contributing designs individually or as a team of 2-3 landscape architects.
Before Granoff Architects, Joe spent over 4 years with Daniel S. Natchez and Associates, an International Environmental Waterfront Design Consulting Company that specializes in marina design and waterfront projects. Joe developed conceptual master plans for both in-water marina facilities and associated upland areas. He also focused on complete site design and permitting for high end waterfront residential projects in Long Island, Southern Westchester county and Southern Fairfield county. He assembled permit drawings and applications to local, state and federal agencies – EAF’s, EIS’s and other agency specific forms. For many projects, the largest two having total site work budgets of $11.2 million and $10 million, he developed application/bid/construction drawing packages including, but not limited to, planting plans, stormwater control design plans, grading plans, utility plans and detail sheets.
Joe is a certified landscape architect in the State of Connecticut. He graduated from Rutgers University with a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Planning and Design with a Specialization in Landscape Architecture. In addition to a demanding curriculum, Joe was the founder and president of the Rutgers University Men’s Club Lacrosse team. He owes a thank you to the game of golf. At an early age Joe started sketching and drawing golf courses, which ultimately led to the profession of landscape architecture. Joe can still be found on the links regularly (and even has a hole in one!) and also enjoys skiing, mountain biking and hiking. Graphic design is also a great interest and his logo, business cards, and website are all homemade.
Joe lives in Larchmont, NY.
